The Knuckles Mountain Range is a series of pristine cloud forests nestled in the central heartland of Sri Lanka. Historically referred to as “Dumbara Kanduvetiya” in Sinhalese which translates into The Misty Valley, the Knuckles Rainforest was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. The mountain range is home to a plethora of endemic flora and fauna, and many of its peaks are constantly enveloped in clouds. The constant cloud coven mist, lush forest and untouched forest floor lead to the range being considered the country’s purest waterbed, and a point of origin for some of Sri Lanka’s largest rivers.
